The Bear Necessities

skulk animalsWith a very definite Winter chill in the air everyone is out to buy their woolies. Upon my travels I have noticed a popular theme amongst Britain’s High Street knitwear as it seems that everybody wants to be a fluffy animal. Strange, really. River Island‘s current window displays consist of a mannequin dressed in a chunky knit pale coloured hoody (above) with, you guessed it, teddy ears! This design also comes in chocolate brown with a cartoon Racoon’s face on the hood. It all seems quite bizarre but when you see someone casually strolling along the cold and windy street, wrapped up warm and cosy with a little pair of fluffy ears poking out from a hood, it’s unbelievably cute. I spoke to a River Island employee who told me that the animal range is particularly popular amongst the Japanese customers and students (with their love of all things cute and unusual it comes as no surprise). I posted earlier in the week about Merrimaking‘s animal hoods and I still believe they were the trend setters in this new found ‘must have’ theme that every fashion retailer is clocking on to. With designs now available in River Island, Topshop, Accessorize and H&M you are sure to find what you are looking for in just one trip. (This animal themed hat is my favourite).
